President to leave for hometown Pabna on Wednesday

President Mohammed Shahabuddin will leave here for his hometown Pabna on a three-day visit on Wednesday to attend several programmes, including a public meeting.

“The President will leave for Pabna on Wednesday afternoon on a three-day visit . . . He will address several gatherings and hold view-exchange meetings with a cross section of people and different professional bodies there.” President’s Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin told BSS today.

This will be his second visit to Pabna district after taking oath of the office on April 24 last as the 22nd President of the country.

The Head of the State will deliver his speech in a public gathering followed by a Boat Race at Sathiya upazila of the district and will also inaugurate the construction work of the 500-bed hospital in the Pabna Medical College, according to programme schedule.

Our Pabna correspondent added that a festive mood has been prevailing in and around the town centering the arrival of President Shahabuddin, a valiant Freedom Fighter and also a former student leader.

The district administration is set to ensure foolproof security on President’s arrival.

Political leaders and workers and common people of the district are eagerly waiting to welcome the President at his ancestral home.

The President is scheduled to return to Dhaka on September 29.
