A court here today exempted BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir from the charges in a defamation case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arafatul Rakib passed the order; also exempting BNP standing committee members Amir Khasru Mahmud Choudhury, Goyeswar Chandra Roy and senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi from the case.
Today was fixed for holding a hearing in the case, but like many earlier occasions, no witnesses appeared before the court to testify, making the defence to plea for disposing of the case. The court after holding hearing on the matter, the court exempted all the accused from charges under section 247.
